Considering we were, initially, not expecting Eric to make it past birth — this was a big deal to us. With no money for Christmas presents, we scrimped and saved to give a tricycle to our three-year-old daughter — who loved it! We were beyond excited to give it to her. Of course, I realized at 11:30 p.m. Christmas Eve that it had to be assembled… so, by 12:30 a.m., my husband had the tricycle ready for riding.
Eric slept through most of Christmas day because, with his heart problem, he sleeps a lot lately. But, we did get some nice gifts from my parents for him: diapers. Practicality is ALWAYS appreciated. He also got a superman ornament. I call Eric: My Little Man of Steel. Why? Because his chest cavity is closed with metal wires — that’s what they use after heart surgery to close. And he’s a little superhero for pulling through all that he’s had to endure.
We enjoyed our holiday as a little family. Blessed that we have Eric, our daughter, each other, family and friends.
